It must be that while 'kill' has a short vowel, 'heal' has a long one. That is the cause of imperfection here, I'm afraid.

OMG, I just saw your organic produce post and YES, I think they do that! I grow organic produce and it looks beautiful, but in the market it's like Butterfingers McGee does the shelving or something.
