My hubby is a lawyer who is trying to escape from the law. (Well, not "escape" as in Prison Break or 24 but as in find a different career track after 20+ years of being an attorney.)

I'd apply that cartoon to whole profession. The entire concept of being a lawyer. At least in my practice area, things are a bit more collegial. But you always feel surrounded by the ones who are just a little too into it.

There is a huge difference between the kind of lawyers who get into it mainly for the money and those who get into it mainly for the justice. I pride myself on knowing TWO of the latter, both of whom are so honest they make me feel ashamed. One of them claims every single penny he and his wife make on his income tax -- you've never seen anything like it.

ReplyDeleteMy hubby has never found one other attorney who shares his honesty. That doesn't mean they aren't out there (as we know, Jason is conscientious and ethical... and so are Mary's friends) but he hasn't found them... yet.
